79th Cannes Film Festival kick-off: Nobody Said Anything in short film competition; Croatian director Vida Skerk’s title in La Cinef selection

The 79th Cannes Film Festival opens on Tuesday, 12 May. Nobody Said Anything, of director and screenwriter Tamara Todorović and producer Čarna Vučinić, and a minority Croatian co-production (Dinaridi Film), to have its world premiere as part of the official short film competition programme. In addition, the fiction short by Croatian director and co-screenwriter Vida Skerk, Left Behind, Still Standing (National Film and Television School, UK), to screen in the La Cinef section.

Marina Musulin’s Around the Clock wins award at 21st SEEfest 

The documentary short Around the Clock directed by Marina Musulin took home Best Short Documentary Award after having its world premiere at the recently concluded 21st South East European Film Festival – SEEfest, which took place in Los Angeles from 29 April to 6 May. In addition, the drama feature Our Father directed by Goran Stanković (co-production PomPom Film), which is a minority Croatian co-production, received a Special Mention.

Fiume o Morte! wins first ever FIPRESCI Documentary Grand Prix

On Thursday, 7 May, during the opening ceremony of the 23rd Millennium Docs Against Gravity, a new international award – the FIPRESCI Documentary Grand Prix – was presented. The distinction was awarded by a jury of all members of the International Federation of Film Critics from around the world. The inaugural award went to the Croatian documentary-fiction film Fiume o Morte! directed by Igor Bezinović (Restart)!
