Primošten, Šibenik, Krka Falls and Dubrovnik in new Indian hit film

The Indian film Prisoner no. 150, whose dance scenes were shot in Croatia in November, 2016, is one of the most watched films in India this month, while simultaneously screening in cinemas across the globe.

Dance sequences were filmed in Primošten, at Šibenik’s Fortress of St Nicholas, at Krka Falls and in Dubrovnik, and scenes from Croatia can be seen in the trailer which, to date, has more than 6.4 million views on YouTube. The film has grossed more than 17.73 million dollars, 2 million of which came during a two-week distribution in the United States. The lead role is played by singer and dancer Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, better known as Chiranjeevi, who returned to acting after a ten-year break. This is his 150th role.

110 members of the film’s cast and crew spent six days shooting in Croatia.

This is the second major production from India filmed on location in Croatia. The first was Fan, filmed in Dubrovnik in March, 2015. The film premiered in April 2016, and earned more than 20.6 million dollars, while the trailer on YouTube – which shows scenes from Dubrovnik – has more than 25 million views.

International projects filmed in Croatia over the last few years have greatly contributed to Croatia’s popularity among tourists. Attractive locations used during filming greatly influence the perception tourists have of the country these films are shot in, hence making Croatia attractive for 'screen tourism': the affect the film industry has on tourism. In June, 2016, TripAdvisor reported there was a 120% increase in searches of the Game of Thrones locations in Croatia, Klis having the highest increase of 579%.
