Pavo Marinković’s project Jimmy L. at the 14th ScripTeast

Eleven screenplays from Eastern Europe have been selected to participate in the 14th edition of ScripTeast, master screenwriting workshop, whose authors will have the opportunity to develop their skills alongside world renowned film experts.

Of the 11 projects, a project from Croatia, Pavo Marinković’s Jimmy L. has also been selected. Film deals with the fate of Jimmy Lyggett, an African American boxer and trainer who trained the boxing team of the Independent State of Croatia during WWII.

ScripTeast is one of the most renowned European screenwriting programmes, where Marta Meszaros, Benedek Fliegauf, Stefan Komandarev and Damjan Kozole, among others have developed their skills, while the most recent success of the programme is Vaclav Marhoul’s film Painted Bird, one of the most controversial films of this year’s Venetian Mostra.

Experienced screenwriters participate in the master workshop, which consists of three sessions, residential dramaturgical in Poland (Sterdyn, October 2019), industry session at Berlinale (February 2020) and the finale in Cannes (May 2020) where, along with pitching to the film industry, the 'Krzysztof Kieslowski' prize will be awarded for the best screenplay.

A list of all the projects participating at this year’s ScripTeast can be found in the attachment in the upper right corner of the text.

ScripTeast’s organiser is the Independent Film Foundation, and is financed with funds from the Program MEDIA EU, followed by the Polish Film Institute, the Polish Ministry of Culture and the production company Apple Film, in cooperation with the European Film Academy and many other partners.
