NEM TV writing contest winner revealed

The second edition of the NEM TV Writing Contest produced great new and exciting TV projects. NEM is proud to present the winning project – The Truth and Other Blindspots from Turkish creators Yeşim Özsoy, Melisa Önel, Melisa Üneri, and Uluç Keçik. Among the six top-rated finalists are three projects penned by Croatian authors.

The competition was extraordinary with six top-rated NEM pitches – psychological thriller The Truth and Other Blindspots, sci-fi drama series The Splitting, dramedy Marketing Girls, speculative fiction Tomorrow never comes, dramedy The Odds, and dramedy Your Man Tony.

The finalists were rated by HRT, RTL Hrvatska, Beta Film, HBO Europe, Nova TV, RAI, CineLink Industry Days, ZigZag Productions, Torino Film Lab, Seven Seas Films, Black Night Film Festival, Joyrider, ZDF Enterprises, Screenwriter School, and MIDPOINT Institute. Jury members rated projects by the quality of the idea, writing, and the monetization plan.

About the winning project:

The Truth and Other Blindspots is a female-driven psychological thriller series, exploring boundaries and consent in sexual relations. The series aims to question: if you consent to violence, is it still violence? Does letting another person die make you a murderer? Do facts always lead you to the truth? Unresolved traumas of a successful career woman, Pelin (40s), and an introverted surveillance officer Magda (30s) collide as a young male escort goes missing.

The winning team won a money prize of 3.000 € and will skip the preselection process and be taken into consideration for the CineLink Drama workshop and market pitching in Sarajevo at CineLink Industry Days.

Six top-rated NEM pitches:

Among this year’s finalists are a couple of last year’s competitors. One of them is Daria Stilin from Croatia, last year’s winner that brought another great project to the competition, a science-fiction drama TV show The Splitting. One more excellent project comes from the author and writer Agnė Šerpytytė from Lithuania who was last year’s finalist as well. This year, she applied with the dramedy Marketing Girls on which she worked on with the writer Luise Trauman from Germany.

Two more projects come from Croatian authors, a TV show described as a paranormal drama by the author Veno Mušinović Tomorrow never comes and a dramedy The Odds by the screenwriter Matej Sudarić.

All projects can be browsed on the NEM Network website.

The winning team won a money prize of 3.000 € and will skip the preselection process and be taken into consideration for the CineLink Drama workshop and market pitching in Sarajevo at CineLink Industry Days.
