Judita Gamulin’s Sedra and The Rudeness of a German Lady by Silva Ćapin at European Short Pitch

The scripts for short films by two young directors and screenwriters: Judita Gamulin’s Sedra and The Rudeness of a German Lady by Silva Ćapin, both produced by Eclectica, Zagreb, have passed the Nisa Masa selection process and will participate in three European Short Pitch workshops in 2018, of which the first will take place in Vilnius, the second will be on-line, and the third will be held in Poznan, Poland.

European Short Pitch is a scriptwriting project organized by Nisa Masa, the European young film professionals’ network, aiming to promote European short film co-productions. European Short Pitch combines scriptwriting workshops, online meetings, and a co-production forum for European screenwriters and film professionals. The aim of the workshop is to promote young European talent and offer them an opportunity to develop and present their projects within a professional environment, as well as to encourage economic sustainability and visibility of European short film.

This year, 16 projects will participate in the workshops. Two of the projects are the short films Sedra and The Rudeness of a German Lady. Both have secured production funding from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre through previous calls for applications.

The first stage of the ESP (Scriptwriting workshop) will take place from January 8th to 14th, 2018, in Vilnius, Lithuania. The goal of the first session is to improve script quality and prepare participants for the promotion of their projects on an international level. The next stage of the ESP (on-line session) will take place between the scriptwriting workshop in January and the co-production forum which will take place March 22nd to 25th in Poznan, Poland. Selected projects will be presented to film professionals, and three winners will be voted upon. The winners will each receive a 1 000 EUR cash prize.

To date, around 240 projects have been presented through the European Short Pitch workshops (2007 – 2017), and many of them have gone on to have successful international careers.
