Danijel Pek in this year’s Producers on the Move programme

The European Film Promotion network has selected Croatian producer Danijel Pek to participate in the Producers on the Move platform, intended for up-and-coming and enterprising European producers who have already produced noteworthy European co-productions. The platform is normally held as part of Cannes Film Festival, however, since the festival has been postponed, Producers on the Move will go forward as a digital edition, 11th – 15th May.

European Film Promotion, a network for film promotion that brings together 37 national film institutes and agencies from 36 countries in Europe, each year selects 20 or so promising producers to participate in the platform Producers on the Move, with the selection criteria based on the producers’ previous successful projects and international co-productions.

As stated on the offical EFP website, Danijel Pek has claimed his spot among the 20 up-and-coming producers thanks to his thriving production track record working on multi-award-winning fiction films such as Goran and Vis-À-Vis, directed by Nevio Marasović, and Leonardo Guerra Seràgnoli’s Likemeback, a minority Croatian co-production, with Pek and Katarina Prpić as Croatian producers. In addition, the EFP also lists two current projects in development: Dark Mother Earth, directed by Rok Biček (in financing) and Murina by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović (in postproduction).

Producers on the Move is normally held as part of Cannes Film Festival, but since the festival has been postponed until further notice, the platform will be held independently and online, 11th – 15th May.

“In these challenging times, the European Film Promotion is very committed to continue supporting, promoting and bringing together promising creative people, raising the visibility of their work and advancing the possibilities of co-production within Europe,” stressed Sonja Heinen, Managing Director of EFP.

The objective of Producers on the Move is promoting networking with the aim of fostering European film co-productions, while the platform is intended for enterprising producers whose careers are on the rise. Each year, the participants take part in lectures, workshops, pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings with industry experts, which opens up promotion opportunities in international industry publications.

Since its founding, the programme has hosted 441 producers of which many have become internationally acclaimed filmmakers, some even going on to win Academy Awards. Last year, Croatian producer Anita Juka also participated in the programme. Along with the EFP network, the Producers on the Move programme is made possible with the support of the MEDIA Sub-programme of Creative Europe.

Alongside Danijel Pek, the programme will feature 19 other producers whose briefs can be found at EFP's official website
