Croatian films at 35th Brest European Short Film Festival 

Josip Lukić’s short film Summer Fruits will have its international premiere in competition of the 35th Brest European Short Film Festival, while other sections of the festival will feature Chintis Lundgren’s animated Toomas Beneath the Valley of the Wild Wolves, a Croatian minority co-production, and Into the Blue by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović. The festival is held at cinemas around Brest and at the festival’s online platform, 10th – 15th Nov.   

Josip Lukić directed and penned the screenplay for his short fiction Summer Fruits. Marinko Marinkić is credited with cinematography, while Jan Kemsche edited the film. Sound design was done by Luka Gamulin, while Nikolina Boban and Paula Čule created the costume design, and Josip Lukić and Martina Marasović were in charge of production design. Paško Vukasović, Snježana Sinovčić, Lana Barić and Marin Leo Janković appear in lead roles, while the film is a Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art production, with Marin Leo Janković as producer.      

Summer Fruits premiered at last year’s Zagreb Film Festival, where it won a special jury mention in the national shorts programme, Checkers, going on to receive awards at Tabor Film Festival, Betina Film Festival, Star Film Fest and Croatian Film Days.  

Josip Lukić’s film is one of the 30 titles from 24 countries screening in competition at the Brest European Short Film Festival, while the screening will be its international premiere.

The same festival will also feature Chintis Lundgren’s Toomas Beneath the Valley of the Wild Wolves, a Croatian minority co-production (with Draško Ivezić of Adriatic Animation as Croatian producer), as well as the multi-award-winning short Into the Blue by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović.

The Brest European Short Film Festival is held in the French city of Brest, 10th – 15th November, while a portion of its programme will also be available online, via the festival platform. For more information about the festival, visit its official website.
