Croatian films at 13th SEEfest

A total of 10 Croatian films will screen in various competition and out-of-competition categories. This year’s SEEfest (South East European Film Festival) will take place in Los Angeles from April 26th to May 3rd.

The feature film competition will screen Comic Sans by Nevio Marasović, the minority co-production Men Don’t Cry by Alen Drljević (Croatian co-producer - Produkcija Živa), and another documentary minority Croatian co-production, the film Gogita’s New Life by Georgian director Levan Koguashvili (Croatian co-producer – Dario Domitrović).

Karla Lulić’s debut film In the Name of the Strawberry, the Chocolate, and the Holy Spirit, will have its world premiere in the short film competition. Also screening in this category are Plan A by writer and director Tomo Luetić, and Into the Blue by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović.

The animated film programme will screen the majority Croatian co-production Only Lovers Leave to Die by Vladimir Kanić, and the minority Croatian co-productions Hedgehog’s Home, written and directed by Eva Cvijanović (Croatian co-producer - Bonobostudio), as well as Manivald by Chintis Lundgren (Croatian co-producer – Adriatic Animation). The Beast, a short film written and directed by Daina O. Pusić, will screen out-of-competition at this year’s festival.

All of the above listed films are supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

SEEfest, held since 2006, promotes the cultural diversity of South Eastern Europe through both the festival and screenings organised throughout the year.
