This announcement was made during the official award ceremony of the European Film Academy held in Berlin on 7 December. The members of the EFM Board are elected by all members of the academy uniting more than 3 600 film professionals and Anita Juka is one of the 16 elected. 

'I am delighted that the European Film Academy has recognized my work and that the Academy members have elected me to represent them in the following mandate. It is a great honour, as well as responsibility. I will do my best to promote the contribution of Croatian film professionals on both the European and global level. My goal is to encourage the empowerment of women in the film industry, those before the camera as well those behind it', said producer Anita Juka, founder of the 4 film production company and producer of the film You Carry Me directed by Ivona Juka.

Besides Juka, some of the elected members of the EFM Board are Mike Goodridge, former CEO of Protagonist Pictures, one of the biggest international film financing companies, Ewa Puszczyńska, producer of the Oscar-awarded film Ida, Christophe Leparc, General Secretary of the renowned Directors’ Fortnight Section of the Cannes International Festival, Kathriel Schory, industry veteran and the long-time executive director of the Israel Film Fund and Jim Sheridan, producer of the film My Left Foot, for which Daniel Day-Lewis won the Academy Award for Best Actor. The new EFA Chairman is Mike Downey, Irish producer and CEO of Film and Music Entertainment production company. The full list of Board members is available on this link. 

The European Film Academy, founded in 1989 by Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, presents awards for best films during the official award ceremony every December and stands shoulder to shoulder with the renowned American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
