KinoKino – International Film Festival for Children

Location: Zagreb
Festival dates: February 20 – 25 2017 | 3rd Edition

KinoKino – International Film Festival for Children was launched by the management team of Zagreb Film Festival with the aim of promoting professional cinema for elementary schoolchildren and raising new audience generations. During the Festival, Europa Cinema fully adapts to the needs of the children's festival, making it possible for them to take part in many film, workshop and side events tailor-made for them. The aim is to make the cinema-going experience special and different and thus leave a mark on the future generations of cinema audiences and cinephiles. The Festival's film program consists of a competition and a side program, and workshops include a broad range of events directly and indirectly related to film, as well as Q&As about the films after the screenings. A jury of children and a jury of professionals decide on the best entries, and another honour presented is the Audience Award. KinoKino is meant as a platform for exchange of information and experiences between teachers about film literacy, advocating innovations in the school curriculum, as well as media and film literacy.
