International training and networking programme FOCUS for film makeup artists and costume designers

Kino Otok is an international film festival taking place in Izola, Slovenia. It was established in 2004 as a festival of feature-length and short films of all types and classes. In 2017, a collaboration agreement was signed with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre 2017 aimed at supporting the PRO Otok program, industrial segment of the festival designed for training and networking of film professionals.

This year’s PRO Otok: FOCUS, the training and networking program for emerging film professionals from Croatia, Italy and Slovenia, focused on film makeup and costume design and took place on 7th and 8th June in collaboration with the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Friuli-Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, Slovenian Film Centre, Motovila Institute / Creative Europe Desk Slovenia, Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Italy (Turin) and the Creative Europe Desk - MEDIA Office Croatia.

Five Croatian filmmakers were selected for free-of-charge participation. In addition to the FOCUS program, PRO Otok organized a scriptwriting workshop during which director Igor Bezinović gave a lecture on the importance of preparations when making a short film and the benefits of adapting your ideas to the world around you.
