Quit Staring at My Plate – Croatian candidate for Oscar Award 

A special committee of the Croatian Film Professionals Society (HDFD) has selected, via secret voting, Hana Jušić’s film Quit Staring at My Plate as Croatia’s candidate for a Best Foreign Language Film nomination at the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 90th Oscar Awards.

With eight votes in the second round, the fifteen members of the selection committee decided that Hana Jušić’s film Quit Staring at My Plate will represent Croatian cinematography in the selection process for an Oscar Award.

The HDFD selection committee chose from five registered films:

1.) Ministry of Love (director: Pavo Marinković, production: Telefilm)

2.) Quit Staring at My Plate (director: Hana Jušić, production: Kinorama)

3.) All the Best (director: Snježana Tribuson, production: Kinorama)

4.) The Constitution (director: Rajko Grlić, production: Interfilm)

5.) The Mystery of Green Hill (director: Čejen Černić, production: Kinorama)

Along with Quit Staring at My Plate, the Bosnian & Herzegovinian-Croatian-Slovenian-German co-production Men Don't Cry, a feature film by Alen Drljevic, is also a candidate for a 90th Best Foreign Language Film Oscar Award nomination. The Croatian co-producer is Produkcija Živa.

The application deadline for the 90th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Oscar Awards (Best Foreign Language Film) is October 2nd, while the awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 4th, 2018.
