Molise Film Festival organizing focus on Croatian cinematography

The 15th MoliseCinema Film Festival, taking place from August 8th to 13th in the Italian city Casacalenda, is organizing a focus on Croatian cinematography which will feature five award-winning films. They are: short films Into the Blue by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, The Beast by Daina O. Pusić, Picnic by Jure Pavlović, the animated film Bla by Martina Meštrović, and the feature-length film On the Other Side by Zrinko Ogresta.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović will introduce her debut film Into the Blue on August 9th. The film will have its regional premiere in Sarajevo following the Italian festival. Into the Blue had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival where it won special mention in the Generation 14plus programme.

The Focus continues with three short films: 2015 European Film Award winner for Best Short Film Picnic by Jure Pavlović, Daina O. Pusić’s award-winning film The Beast, and the short animated film Bla, which focuses on the theme of education and is directed by Martina Meštrović.

The Focus will close on August 13th with the screening of Zrinko Ogresta’s feature film On the Other Side. The film has crossed all continents and has been screened at more than 60 global festivals. Last year, Ogresta’s psychological drama was Croatia’s candidate for an Oscar Awards nomination in the category Best Foreign Language Film.

All of the above films are supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

The MoliseCinema Film Festival promotes recent and innovative Italian and world cinematography with emphasis on young authors and new languages, while a special focus is placed on short and documentary films. Beyond the dates when the festival takes place, this year between August 8th and 13th, the festival lives year-round through various exhibitions, screenings and other events tied to film and film culture.
